Sultanate of Oman:

Dr. Al-Nakib's research experience in sheep breeding was put to successful use in the Sultanate of Oman, where he held the post of Animal Breeding Specialist by the university of Durham. He travelled with the university to Oman, where he set-up and managed a sheep and goat breeding research station at Wadi Quriyat (1990-1994).

The station is part of the effort of the Omani government to improve local meat supply especially in goats and sheep. Under Al-Nakib's management, Wadi Quriyat has successfully implemented a breeding programme that now supplies genetically improved goats and sheep to Omani farmers. The resultant improved stock enjoys an enhanced meat output and effiency of production over the indigenous stock.

Today:

Since 1995, Dr Al-Nakib was engaged in providing consultancies in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Jordan. Recently, he designed a large scale national program for the genetic improvement of meat from goats and sheep, which is currently under consideration for implementation. He will be directing this programme.

Dr. Al-Nakib is currently concerned with the huge volume of meat imports into the Arab World. He is looking for the means of providing part of these imports from local livestock.
